Ashover May Day Celebrations.

Date taken 3rd. May
The weather was cold but sunny up to the opening ceremony and crowning of the May Queen and King.
The parade was led by the Ashover Brass Band.
The Bishop of Derby and his wife opened the event and hailstones fell as they crowned the Queen and King and presented certificates
to the attendants.
Entrants for the hedgehog rolling were in short supply and so the event was much shorter than previous years.
The Chesterfield Garland Dancers, Ripley Morris Men and the Maypole dancers were well received along with
Uncle Michael the clown and the Mummers play.
The weather could have been kinder but it was still a good entertaining day out.
