Kiveton.

Date taken 23rd. April 2011.

We have walked the towpath many times but today we took to the water. The trip started at Kiveton and through Thorpe Top Treble lock before returning.
The volunteer crew were obviously very passionate about the canal and answered the many questions put to them. We would highly recommend you
consider taking a trip, even if it's just to while away a couple of hours of quiet relaxation on a rural stretch of the canal.
The Station Hotel in Kiveton serves good food if all that fresh air gives you an appetite.
This is the highest part of the canal and it is here that stone quarried in North Anston was loaded and transported for the rebuilding of the
Houses of Parliament in the 1840's.
